Switzerland -Glacier and Lake by AgiVega Switzerland -Glacier and Lake by AgiVega
Susten pass (Switzerland) with a glacier and a glacier lake. I know the pic's a bit noisy, but I had to use a high ISO in order to make sure the pic wouldn't be blurry, because I photographed it through the bus window, while the bus was moving. I think, for a pic taken through the bus window, it's quite good. :)

A very young lake, less than 70 years old. A result of the global warming and the melting of the glaciers.

Very pretty view, and nice photo considering it's from a bus. The only bummer is that you can actually get to that location without having to hike for miles, which makes human impact a problem.

**bows to ~Agi's skill in getting such a shot through the window of a moving bus!** :worship:

Magnificent!!  I can't get over the sharpness of everything--shooting through a window almost never yields such results! That lake is amazing: full of the "glacial milk," it looks like a flat, smooth piece of jade....just gorgeous! Stunning vistas in Switzerland, I can see!

It's quite good indeed for a picture taken through the window of a moving bus. :D

I think part of my favorite movie (The Tenth Kingdom) may have been filmed at this location, but I'm not entirely sure. I know part of it WAS filmed in Switzerland though.

Keep up the great work. :+fav:

PS: You're so lucky to be able to visit such beautiful places.

What was the Tenth Kingdom about? I've never heard of that movie...

The Tenth Kingdom is about this girl named Virginia who's a waitress in New York City and her bumbling father, Tony who's a janitor, and how they wind up in a world called the Nine Kingdoms where fairy tales are real. There's also a prince who gets turned into a dog by his step-mother, the evil queen, a half-man, half-wolf (named Wolf) who helps Virginia and Tony on their adventures, and a trio of idiotic trolls who love shoes!

It was a five-part Hallmark Entertainment mini-series that originally aired (at least in the US) in Feb/Mar 2000...I think it aired on Sky One in the UK/Europe (in Dec 1999?!?).

Without commercials it's seven (that's right, 7!) hours long. It's a great movie to watch bit by bit, or straight through (if you have a whole day to just watch it).

I believe the entire thing is posted on YouTube as well. I can send you the link for the first part if you like.

Woo! Hope this helps. :D

Tootles,

WidowShark

PS: Keep up the great work. Your photographs are beautiful.

Thanks, but I fear I don't have time to watch videos online. But now at least I understand part of a fanfic that I earlier didn't... Once I read an Artemis Fowl fanfic in which Arty and Holly end up in the nine kingdoms and there's a Tony and a Virginia... I always thought the nine kingdoms were made up by the writer of that fanfic... :XD:

It rocks! Totally. Geesh, how d'you manage to write, draw, and do photography?! :faint:

Hey, Agi, how long is your average fic? Like, how many words? I think I asked you before, approx 200 pages, right? But I'm just wondering how many words that is.
Reply
:iconagivega:
AgiVega Featured By Owner Aug 16, 2007
I just counted - one page usually contains 550-600 words, so if a fic is 200 pages long, then it's about 120.000 words. But if a fic is 300 pages long, then it's 180.000 words. My longest fic is 240.000 words long (The Greatest Enemy Ever Faced), while my shortest novel-length one (Soul Searching) is only 90.000 words. :)

:iconporpierita:
porpierita Featured By Owner Aug 17, 2007
ONLY? 90,000 is hell a lot! WOW!!! Y'know, I think it adds up to like, a 350 pages novel?!

ZOMG. I wish I could write that much. How the hell do you find so much time?! :faint:
