Both. First in the Timothy Zahn trilogy (Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising and The Last Command), then in several more books, and years after the publication of Zahn's trilogy, there was a comic series called Union (if I remember it well) that was about Luke and Mara's wedding.
I was surprised by all the "Who's Mara?" comments. LOL.
Mara and Luke are my favorite Star Wars Characters. I guess I just assumed everybody knew about her especially Star Wars fans.
But then I should know better, a few years ago I was talking to a friend of mine who admitted that she was a huge Star Wars fan. I said, "So am I, what is your favorite book?" And she looked at me and said, "There are books?"
An SW fan and didn't know there were any books? That's weird! L/M are my fave SW characters too, and definitely my fave SW pairing. Actually, my fave pairing of all times - I like it even better than Harry/Ginny, for instance...
Yes, Harry/Ginny is from Harry Potter. Don't tell me you haven't read Harry Potter? Run and read it! It's good, believe me! As for L/M in the EU books: I agree. I missed the romance. The only proper romance scenes were in one of the earlier NJO books where Mara was still very ill - Onslaugh was the title, I think...
I have tried watching the movies, but after a few minutes I get so bored I have to turn it off. I am sure the Harry Potter books are fantastic. I mean the author wouldn't be a multi-millionaire if they sucked. But I am just not interested.
Yes there are a few books were there is some sweet moments between Luke and Mara. They sometimes joked with each other or said some things that can be interpreted as making a sexual reference, but there are not many. And now there can't be any more unless we have some books talking about the time before "Sacrifice".
Yes, the HP books really are fantastic. Believe me, I wasn't interested for years, but one day I thought "oh, why not?" and borrowed the first from a friend. I was hooked. HP is just as good as SW, for me at least. The movies are okay, but... the books are loads better. I haven't read Sacrifice and won't ever. For me, Mara is still alive.
Luke/Mara are not the only book pairing I've drawn several pics of. There's also Artemis/Holly from Artemis Fowl (these two never got together in the AF books, but in many fanfics they did), and Nathaniel/Kitty from the Bartimaeus trilogy (again, these two never got together in canon, but they almost always do in fanon )
see, no one likes jacen that i've talked to...but i think thats because of the role the authors have taken on him and lead him down...but i think its a change and is quite daring. but opinions are opinions!
I love luke and mara...cutest couple since Han and Leia! hehe.
hehe ok, well i am currently working on a pic right now called Rage of Dragons...but after that is an already sketched pic called Duel of the Fates which is of course a star wars pic. but ill let you know again mind you mine arent nearly as good as yours
yay! But you know what, there hasn't been any apperance of their son, Ben Skywalker. I know, I know, I got into the extended universe late and I kinda left not long after, so I don't know a lot, but I tried getting the character profiles on Force.net, but now they don't even have that, and never do they mention Ben. You'd think an important kid like that would have more of a roll.
Yeah, but I remember having read a few fics in which Ben was around. Well, those fics were mostly in Luke/Mara supporting yahoo groups...
And I read an interview with Tim Zahn - he said he'd love to write a book later about Luke, Mara and baby Ben. Can't wait!
The books by Timothy Zahn:
- Heir to the empire
- Dark force rising
- The last command
- Specter of the past
- Vision of the future
- Survivor's quest (this is one I haven't yet read but I intend to read it soon - it already features L/M as a freshly married couple).
